Tomorrow's Key Day!

So, it's the big day tomorrow! But where am I moving to exactly?

Most of you will know that I live and work on the Isle of Skye. It's a great place! I've been here for about five and a half years and I absolutely love it! No more city living for me... Anyhow, up until now I have been living in the Sleat Peninsula in the South of Skye, also known as the Garden of Skye, and beautiful it is, even when the weather is being a pain in the backside...

Unfortunately, house prices in Sleat are a bit too high for single income first time buyer. So, I'm moving to the village of Kyleakin which sits on the Island side of the Skye Bridge looking out towards Kyle of Lochalsh on the tìr mòr (mainland). It's still in the South end, which suits me perfectly, with decent roads for the commute to work and it's closer to Inverness. Which will come in handy for when one has to go visit the parentals...

In the aerial view of the village below you can actually see my NEW house. It's the middle one of the three houses with red roofs. Not the whole building mind... it's semi-detached, with views to die for, that will never be spoilt by new builds and a great sized garden with plenty of south facing sun, when it decides to come out...

Most of the village is in this picture, so not very big, but a metropolis compared to where I've been living... It's gonna take a while to get used to having neighbours that don't walk on all fours and eat grass... Oh yeah and there's the street light, it's been along time since I've had to put up with those things... Will have to double up on the blackout blinds to block the light out...

Another advantage to moving to Kyleakin is the Indian Restaurant and the fact that I'll now be only 2-3 miles away from the swimming pool, rather than 20 miles...

So, onward with the packing! I've run out of boxes, so have to start getting creative...
